It is not very common that I see so many good stocks on short watch for one day. Here are my top four, all potential shorts, though two could be decent buys if they exhibit continued strength.
VeriChip Corporation (NASDAQ:CHIP) – Tim Sykes thinks this company sucks and that is good enough for me. $3.00 is important support and it will be a good short if it breaks that.
Emergent Health Corp (Pink: EMGE) – The pump and dump du jour. Had its first red day Friday (which I messed up big-time trading) and more downside is likely. Short aggressively on red.
Luna Innovations (NASDAQ:LUNA) – Up from $1.20 to $2.20 in one day on no news and insane volume in one day. It hit an intraday high of $3.30. This will move big one way or another. It will be a nice buy on green or a short on fading and red.
Dataram Corporation (NASDAQ:DRAM) – Up from $2.20 to $3.97 in two days on huge volume and no real news. It was a beautiful technical breakout as it broke $2.40 and it broke longer-term resistance at $3.20. This could go either way, but I am short-biased. It should be traded like LUNA.
Disclosure: No positions. I have a disclosure policy.

Sogo has DRAM and LUNA, IB has a little of all but EMGE.
#2 by sm on September 27, 2009 - 6:53 pm
yea I noticed that on the their securities short list. CHIP right now seems to have a perfect fade right now to get in the starting of this week. DRAM scares me a little due to its chart voltility right now.

I like DRAM, CHIP and LUNA as shorts with DRAM being the first if it breaks down tomorrow.
CYTK looks like it had some consolodation last week and is at some resistance that if broken it could run nicely.
#4 by Preston on September 27, 2009 - 8:12 pm
IGC and HPJ both have nice looking break out charts, on watch for buys, both are at some resistance and volume was up on Friday.
#5 by Mark on September 27, 2009 - 10:07 pm
DRAM was a net-net maybe even net cash over past year or so.
#6 by Preston on September 28, 2009 - 8:13 am
ASPM, COMS, CYTK Pre-market leaders.
ASPM looks the best right now with news about a buyout. No resistance that I can see on a 1 year chart, has a steady uptrend and a nice looking chart.
#7 by Preston on September 28, 2009 - 8:26 am
IGC is touching resistance again this morning, the chart is choppy but if it breaks it will be a good play.
#8 by Reaper on September 28, 2009 - 8:51 am
IGC could be nice on 1.80 break yes. Others … I’m having issues with my charts.
LUNA actually had lawsuit settlement news Friday.

anyone get EMGE at the open. IB had 2k shares but I couldn’t get filled
#10 by Reaper on September 28, 2009 - 9:42 am
I couldn’t get filled with those 2k either. Frustrating.
#11 by betheball on September 28, 2009 - 9:49 am
yep, i even tried in premarket. is there premarket trading on the pinks with IB?
#12 by Reaper on September 28, 2009 - 9:49 am
I don’t think so. There were no premarket prints in EMGE today.
#13 by Preston on September 28, 2009 - 9:49 am
Damn, DRAM had a death drop, I wonder now if it’s still playable. I didn’t expect that, thought it would go up some first, looks to choppy now.
#14 by Preston on September 28, 2009 - 9:52 am
LUNA is trying to break Friday highs, might be a good buy if it does.
#15 by betheball on September 28, 2009 - 9:54 am
yeah, AMTD actually had DRAM, was looking to play it
#16 by Preston on September 28, 2009 - 10:00 am
DRAM may consolidate a little go higher and make for a good short this afternoon.
#17 by johnc on September 28, 2009 - 10:24 am
EDWY broke .09 and is at .124
#18 by Preston on September 28, 2009 - 10:28 am
No shares of LUNA at AMTD, tried small orders too.
They have DRAM, though it doesn’t look that attractive any more.
#19 by johnc on September 28, 2009 - 10:42 am
RINO selling for 19.60… with another breakout
#20 by sm on September 28, 2009 - 11:17 am

#21 by sm on September 28, 2009 - 12:34 pm
EMGE dosent even have a bid or ask anymore lol
#22 by Reaper on September 28, 2009 - 12:56 pm
I just wired $30k from IB to Thinkorswim. My trades at TOS will be tracked automatically by Covestor. http://www.covestor.com/mbr/reaper

Did anyone get in on Tim’s [redacted by admin] trade?
#24 by Reaper on September 28, 2009 - 2:03 pm
Note — I removed the ticker of Tim Sykes’ TimAlert from your post out of respect for him. I don’t want his picks posted here before he publicizes them. Feel free to discuss them here as long as you don’t give out any details about the stock that would give it away.
The answer is yes. I scalped the stock Tim just bought with 17k shares and netted $1920. That stock is always too choppy for my taste so I didn’t keep any shares.
#25 by betheball on September 28, 2009 - 2:05 pm
wow, reaper, what was your entry?
by the time i got the text it was 4.79
#26 by betheball on September 28, 2009 - 2:06 pm
sorry, 5.79
#27 by Reaper on September 28, 2009 - 2:07 pm
$5.724 including commission. This’ll be a fun one to discuss on my trade recap.
#28 by betheball on September 28, 2009 - 2:08 pm
great trade, i was up $400 at best on my $4000 shares but it reversed too quickly and the spread kinda sucked
#29 by Reaper on September 28, 2009 - 2:09 pm
yes it was quick. I put in the best offer when it was still going up on 2.84 with only 2400 shares shown to the market and that got taken out quickly … I could’ve gotten another couple cents though.

You people are my heroes! In 5 years, I plan to have 30k for day trading (to make sure the PDT rule doesn’t affect me at first), a quiet office to trade in (preferably away from the house), and a ful, year-long subscription to Reaper Trades (which I’m sure will be a pay site by then
#31 by Preston on September 28, 2009 - 2:45 pm
I passed on it with no day trades to escape if it went bad.
Nice trade though Michael. Haven’t done much today but look, in the middle of trying to set up my massive account on Covestor, with my slow connection it’s taking a long time.
Ha, until you come out saying that you are entering into gays-r-us I guess I will keep signing up for shit, I have joined more stuff these last two months than I ever thought I would.
You seem like you have a sense of humor so I hope that doesn’t offend you.
#32 by Reaper on September 28, 2009 - 2:49 pm
I’m pretty hard to offend … haven’t you noticed Tim Bohen’s (tbohen) comments?
#33 by Preston on September 28, 2009 - 2:57 pm
I was kinda basing the degree of my ‘pun’ off of that, pretty hard to top him that’s for sure.
Gonna be a wild time in Vegas with him there, no doubt about that. Hell he might even make a construction worker blush.
